New Yamaha WR250 Safari Tank coming soon

Australian company Safari Tanks is in the final stages of production of a new 15-litre tank for the 2015 Yamaha WR250 range. The tank, designed in-house at Safari Tanks’ Victorian headquarters, will also fit the Yamaha YZ250 and YZ450 models.

The Safari Tank follows the original lines of the Yamaha, and also utilises the original side covers of the motorcycle, increasing the fuel capacity by 100%, and holding over 25% more fuel than other aftermarket tanks.

The design of the tank ensures that the airflow to the radiator is unaffected, and the tank is also dry brake compatible.

“The Yamaha WR250 is an outstanding bike that is built for the rider, so when developing the new Safari Tank we took a ‘no compromise’ approach,” Safari Tanks’ Robin Box said.

“If ridden fast, the standard fuel tank can empty pretty quickly, so we’ve worked with riders to find out what they want, and have designed the tank based on the recommendations of Yamaha owners.

“The 15-litre tank doubles the fuel capacity of the 2015 WR250, and riders can expect a fuel range in the vicinity of 160 to 200km, or around the 140km mark if the bike is being ridden hard.”

The tank will be available exclusively through Yamaha dealers, with the first tanks expected to come off the production line in the coming weeks.
