Safari Tanks celebrating 60 years of Yamaha in Australia

Safari Tanks founder, Robin Box, and three other riders have just set off on a ride that will see them cover Australia from south to north, using the shortest possible route.

Starting in Ceduna in South Australia, the group will ride brand new Yamaha WR 250 Rs to Burketown in the Northern Territory, at the top of the country.

The bikes have been fitted with new Safari Tanks, which will increase the riding distance of the bikes to around 600km before a refuel is needed.

The ride is helping to celebrate 60 years of Yamaha in Australia, and in recognition, the four bikes have been painted up in the key colours of Yamaha’s history – red, yellow and blue.

Joining Robin on the ride are two-time Australian Rally Champions, Geoff Portman and Ross Runnalls. The pair won the title in 1981 and 1982 driving for the factory Datsun / Nissan team.

We will have a full report on the ride after they return.
